Harness Racing

If you enjoy the majestic beauty of a highly trained horse in full stride, then you will want to come to the harness races at Union Fair. Since 1902, these beautiful horses have trotted or paced two circuits of the half mile track in pursuit of prizes (originally oats, now cash) as well as bragging rights.

Union Fair was the first track in the state (and we believe the nation) to remove the hub rail on the inside of the track, making racing a much safer activity for horses and drivers. Today every harness track in America has followed Union’s lead. We are neither the biggest, nor the fastest track in Maine but we strive to be the friendliest and provide a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon of harness racing for fans and horsemen/women alike.

So, if you want an afternoon of fresh air and fun come to the Fair and enjoy the sights and sounds of real country fair harness racing. Five Days of racing: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.
